MATTHEW KREDELL

Matthew Kredell broke into the Daily News in 1998, working part time at the paper while going to USC. The basketball team’s Elite Eight run in 2000-01 was USC’s athletic highlight in his time at the school, when the football team was stuck in the Paul Hackett-era. After graduating in 2001, he started writing for the Daily News full time. He’s in his second year covering USC, which coincides with the rise of the program. He’ll take credit for the success, though Tim Floyd may have more to do with it. A third-generation Los Angelean, he grew up reading the Daily News while at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills.

Beat the Tar Heels. I hope its like last year when we were able to slow Hansborough with N'Diaye and Wilkinson. Just think, this year we have Taj Gibson.

Any word on how Dickie V is doing now that there is only one ACC team left? I'm hoping for a three team Pac-10 final and a rematch with the Bruins. But one game at a time.

And no pressure on us despite what Dmarco Farr says. Nobody expected us to get to the second weekend, and everybody expects NC to get to the FF. Guess we'll find out Friday.

I feel the Trojans have a good chance of upsetting the Tar Heels. SC has been playing well, but not over their heads. I am waiting for Lod to go off and start draining 3's like we know he can.

Hmm, you gave us a 30% chance against Durant and Texas... what kind of chances are you giving us against Psycho T and the Heels?

MK edit: I hadn't seen much of Texas when I wrote that. Just going off its reputation. After watching Texas in the first round, I was actually thinking USC would win. I think the Trojans have a legitimate chance. North Carolina is a lot better than last year, but it's tough to think they could possibly be as much better than USC is compared to last year.
