Ducks are taking over the valley!!

Did I ever tell you that I love reading Dennis McCarthy's column? Not only does he write heartwarming human-interest stories but his writing really reflects his personality. He is as true and genuine in person as he is in his stories. And his animals stories really touch my heart...like this one about ducks that have taken residence in someone's pool.
This quote in particular makes me smile:
"They swim in the pool all day and ride over the little waterfall from the Jacuzzi into the pool, acting like they're on vacation at Disneyland," Ron said, making sure his guests have enough to eat.
It reminds me of the time where a pair of geese took residence in my sister's pool or when finches would build nests every year in my mom's backyard. It was so fascinating to watch them lay eggs and have the chicks grow up right in front of your eyes.
It also reminds me of the duck couple we encountered in mammoth. They looked like they were ready to mate soon.

Places I've seen with ducks and other huge migratory birds are the fountain and grounds of the Blue Cross facility in Warner Center, the park at Victory and Reseda boulevards and, of course, Balboa Park, where the whole area is full of ducks and other birds.
