Dog Whisperer on DVD

Some say Cesar Milan's techniques are a bit harsh. I can't make a judgment on that since I've never really watched the show. I guess it's because I never had to since I don't own a dog at the moment. Although I should maybe refer my sister to the DVDs because her two dogs can get very rambunctious at times. I'd have to watch the show to make up my own mind. A coworker of mine emailed me the info on the new DVD called Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: The Complete Third Season. She said that a friend is using his techniques to train her dog and it seems to work. So it can't hurt to at least watch the show and determine whether it's a good training system for your dog or not.

The DVD set is due in stores on Tuesday, July 8 and features over 980 Minutes of Episodes and exclusive never-before-seen Dog Whisperer Segments.

According to the press release sent to me Cesar is often referred to as the Dr. Phill for dogs. Not sure if I like that comparison because I personally think that Dr. Phil is a bit on the sensationalistic side. But then again Cesar has had some complaints about his tactics too.

The press release says that the DVD documents the remarkable transformations that take place under Cesar's guidance and teaching, helping dogs and their owners live happier lives
together. It says that his reputation as an insightful and much sought after dog expert has led him to become a household name for millions of dog owners in the United States.

In this DVD, Cesar finds a way to help every dog he encounters. From a one-eyed Australian
Sheperd's aggressive behavior, to Jane, an American Eskimo/Border Collie mix who fears the outside world and refuses to go for a walk, the show documents the astonishing behavioral transformations that take place under Cesar's calm and assertive direction. The DVD also features bloopers and outtakes as well as never-before-seen Dog Whisperer segments.

So if you like the show and would like to see if his way is right for you go to amazon.com or any other website that sells DVDs. Or do the old-school thing and mosey on down to your nearest retail store. The suggested retail price is $27.98.

Correct use of the training leash is important, not only during training sessions, but at all times. Always having a loop over your thumb and your hand closed into a fist, prevents even the strongest dog from unexpectedly jerking the leash through your fingers and breaking free. Whether it's the hand-loop or a loop formed by marrying the leash over your thumb, the result is the same. Pulling on the leash merely causes your grip to tighten
