Best QB? Too early to tell, but …

The caller asked for a ranking of the area’s high school
quarterbacks. That may be a bit premature, because nobody has played a
down this season. It is possible to list the most likely candidates
among the returning starters:

(Alphabetically) Alec Campos (Whittier), Rene Cerda (Montebello),
Angel Molina (Santa fe), Pedro Olivares (Cantwell Sacred heart) and
Joseph Orduno (Schurr).

In some situations, the position is still up for grabs, but once the
season begins and lineups are established, here is a list of other
potential candidates who are competing for the position and are either returners (R) who were on the
varsity as backups last year, or newcomers (N), who are either
moving up from lower division teams or transfers:

(Alphabetical by team): (California) Drew Harris(JV)/Tony Rivera (T),
(El Rancho) Javier Hernandez (JV), (La Habra) Chris Morales (R), (La
Mirada) Chad Albers (JV), (La Serna) Mike Ibarra (R)/Ben Burke (FR),
(Pioneer) Ronnie Palacios (JV)/, (St. Paul) Adrian Gallegos (R),
(Whittier Christian) Brett Esslinger (JV).
