Some teams are stepping up, others are ….

Okay, okay, time for some adjustment in the current area basketball rankings.

Girls:
1) La Serna (10-3). Can’t understand their losses, but their wins over St. Paul and Santa Fe speak volumes.
2) St. Paul (12-2). Can’t understand the loss to La Serna, but haven’t seen a more athletic or versatile team.
3) Santa Fe (8-7). Chiefs playing better than record indicates and should be ready for Del Rio League.
4) California (8-3). Condors’ best start in years, if only they could shoot free throws.
5) Whittier Christian (7-5). Ups and downs. Peaks and valleys. Call it what you will, but inconsistency a problem.

Boys:
1) Whittier Christian (13-2). To beat the Heralds you need an answer for 6-10 center Tom Granado.
2) La Mirada (8-3). Realizing potential most of the time, first-year coach Larry Kaupang doing something right.
3)Santa Fe (9-4). Chiefs appear to be biding time before exposing real talent when league begins.
4) St. Paul (6-7). Would like to see a quicker player than Swordsmen guard Steven Saenz. Wow!!
5) La Serna (9-5). Number of wins must surprise those who wrote Lancers after with changing of the guard.
