Yo, swordsman fan, give me a little break.
Spring football is only wannabe football when you’re talking hype.
What about teams that have worked through tough sesons to earn the opportunity to seek a CIF championship ring. Those players in spring sports like baseball and softball and volleyball and tennis and track and field and swimming, and … well, I hope you get the picture.
Nothing against football, nor its early start, but let’s keep it real for at least another couple of weeks.
Championships won in the fall can be founded in the spring, but they can’t be won in the spring.
However, thanks for the input concerning St. Paul boys volleyball.

VOLLEYBALL: Where are you people?

The CIF Southern Section divisional playoffs begin next week, so it figures you folks have had a season to make up your minds as to who is better than the rest.
El Rancho has dominated the Del Rio League, but La Serna and Whittier have had their moments and individual standouts.
La Mirada’s potential appears as yet untapped, so the Matadores might make some noise come postseason play.
And there may be others who started slowly but are now playing their best volleyball at the right time, even though their record might reflect it.

BSBL/SFBL: Two weeks to go, who are the favorites?

With two weeks remaining in the regular baseball and softball seasons, it’s time to stand up and be counted.
El Rancho is in a dogfight for the Del Rio League baseball title.
La Serna appears to be edging toward the softball championship, but there is a torrid race for the league’s second and third playoff spots.
Cantwell is on top in Camino Real League baseball, as are the Cardinals girls in softball.
La Mirada is well on its way to a seventh Suburban League softball championship. and the the Matadores’ baseball team is odds-on favorite to make it nine consecutive baseball titles.League championships are great, but which of the area programs in either sport has the best chance of winning a CIF title?
Or progressing the furthest through the playoffs in its respective division?
