El Rancho stunned … and some other scores

Downey led for only 12 minutes of a two-hour baseball game, but it was
enough to bring a premature end to El Rancho’s baseball season in
Thursday’s CIF-SS Division III first round playoff contest.

Trailing 3-0 after six innings as Dons’ right-hander Chris Villalobos’
dominant one-hit effort on his way to a 10-strikeout
performance, the Vikings took advantage of a break in focus and belted a
pair of two-run home runs in the top of the seventh to win, 4-3.
