It was a struggle, but they finally Ok’d an extension of the football
playoffs beyond the CIF Southern Section division championships which
some observers are calling the “state playoffs,” although more accurate
terminology would be a collection of bowl games. They began two years
ago with three divisions, and now five are planned.
After watching games in the CIF-SS softball and baseball playoffs over
the weekend, it begs to raise the question, why are there not also
opportunities in place to determine state champions in those sports?
