Jill Sanchez Appeals

Whittier native Jill Sanchez said she is appealing to the CIF-State office on behalf of her daughter, reigning Daily News’ Girls Softball Player of the Year Natalie Sanchez.

Natalie Sanchez transferred from Whittier Christian High School to Bishop Amat (La Puente) about a month after the Heralds claimed a CIF-Southern Section title in June.

On Jan. 22, the CIF-Southern Section office officially denied the Sanchez family’s hardship claim, making Natalie ineligible for the upcoming season. Jill Sanchez was then told she could file an appeal with the CIF-State board by Feb. 12, which she did.

Jill Sanchez is hoping to get her daughter eligible for the upcoming softball season. She has, though, conceded that Natalie is prepared to play on the junior varsity team if needbe.

Jill Sanchez has refuted her daughter’s move was “athletically motivated” and said her family had ethical issues with Whittier Christian.
