Barber’s Tenure at Cal-Hi Comes to an End

California High School boys basketball coach Brian Barber confirmed that he recently resigned his post as head coach after 10 years.

Barber spoke to the paper on Wednesday evening, days after he confirmed to Del Rio League coaches that resigned at the all-league meetings.

Barber cited a need to spend more time with his family as the chief reason behind his decision.

The Condors won two DRL titles in the Barber era, the last a co-league championship with Santa Fe during the 2007-08 season.

While Barber’s team failed to make the postseason this year, losing its last three games in a row, he said that didn’t weigh on his decision.

Personally, I’d like to wish Coach Barber the best. While there are some who didn’t agree with his coaching, it’s hard to find a better ambassador than the area’s best-dressed coach.
