Some Noteworthy Efforts

I used to think no-hitters were a rare feat. Apparently, they’re not so rare in the area.

Here are a few that I’m aware of. If there were any others this season, please feel free to list them here.

    No-No #1

  • La Habra’s Michael Flores strikes out eight batters in the Highlanders’ 6-1 Freeway League win over Buena Park last Friday.
    No-No #2

  • California’s Ashley Beza walks the first batter of Tuesday’s nonleague game versus Sonora. The hitter is eventually thrown out trying to steal second and Beza goes on to face the minimum number of batters in a 4-0 win. Beza struck out six in the no-hitter.
    No-No #3

  • Whittier Christian’s Mike Bustamante pitched an abbreviated five-inning no-hitter, striking out five batters in five innings in Whittier Christian’s 13-0 Olympic League home win over L.A. Baptist on Tuesday
