Montebello Football’s 2010 Schedule

Montebello High School football coach Pete Gonzalez took some time out of his busy schedule to sit down with the paper on Wednesday afternoon and discuss the Oilers upcoming 2010 schedule.

Montebello’s Heaman Field

Included is a 10-minute interview with Gonzalez where he talks about the schedule and a few other football issues.

Montebello Schedule:

Week 0- vs. Bellflower
1 at Rosemead
2 vs. Arroyo
3 vs. El Rancho
5 at California
6 vs. San Gabriel
7 vs. Bell Gardens
8 vs. Alhambra
9 at Schurr
10 at Keppel

Gonzalez (head coach and running backs coach) will be assisted by Peter Gonzalez (offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach), Eric Gonzales (defensive coordinator), Gary Canales (offensive line), Matt Seanez (offensive line), Mike Dezire (defensive line), Butch Rodriguez (defensive ends), Kevin Rivas (defensive back and special teams coordinator

Commentary: Did coach know something we didn’t know well in advance? Montebello scheduled two games versus Mid-Valley Divisional powers in Rosemead and Arroyo and then the Almont League gets moved into the same division. Interesting. But all joking aside, the Oilers have a solid preseason against five playoff teams. One of the bad things about the change in division is that now only two teams from the Almont League are guaranteed playoffs spots. It’s hard to envision the Oilers finishing in the top 2. I don’t think they’re there…yet. I wish them the best of luck.

Here’s the conversation with Gonzalez –

oh yes real busy schedule. more like the premadonna got his name in the paper just the way he likes it. If only he could coach as good as getting press time, then they’d be a powerhouse. LOL

must be one of our SP Swordsmen followers who are still upset.

nice interview with pete, Good job I hope there are more like that to come.

I was talking to a area head coach and he told me that Whittier’s DC left the football program and is now at Bell Gardens. He thought they were going to be good this year but now he’s not to sure. Maybe Andrew could find out who will be the new DC. I guess you got your change at Whittier

  • BG Lancer

Funny thing Bell Gardens I heard Bell Gardens Added San Marino also from the Mid Valley and the play Azuza again this year @ BG. Did these coaches get a heads yp from someone in CIF Hmmmmmm.I think the Almont is going to come down to BG and Shurr and one of the at large berths will come from the Almont as well.

COME ON MURRAY: Really? Interesting. Never suggested a change at the defensive coordinator spot. NEVER. Your memory is as bad as your spelling of too! and Sports! My suggestion was a more important one.

Good interview. Good luck Montebello in 2010!!

What I meant was you wanted change, and it looks like this change is going to hurt Whittier. I never said you wanted the DC out. Maybe you can go to Whittier and become their new DC and then their head coach. Now that would be change.

You should not talk about ones spelling. What is sprots

COME ON MURRAY..take back that spelling comment as I spelled my own sports wrong. Do you know Whittier football? Do they have anyone to fill that role. Very important coaching position.
Maybe Scott will come back into the mix and do it. He may have done the “D” many moons ago.

I understand they have a quality freshmen group moving up. Could be good in 2 years and 3 as juniors and seniors (if they play defense) and do not lose it late in the game. I believe they would have been in the playoffs this year had they not coughed it up late vs LS.

COME ON MURRAY…Notice my blog on April 24 was just a couple hours after yours. I took back that spelling comment after recognizing I did not even spell my own correctly.

I believe my comments have been very postitive lately; I am working on it. And I am trying not to be a know it all… Very difficult for me.

  • WHAT!

Montebello will be the door mat of the league. Pete will be gone after this year, because he he is looking to get out of MTB, he thinks he `s better than what he is, ha. Little Pete sucks as a coach and still has a spoon in his mouth. Their coaching staff is inexperienced. Their DC has never called a defense in his life, but I do have to say, he will try and prepare the best he can. The rest of the staff will have a tough time dealing with Little big Pete. Oh when ever he is there. LOOONG SEASON AHEAD. Keep on trying to get other schools players. Rosemead will eat them up,because DC Gil Jimenez will make little Pete pooh his pants with his aggressive style defense. So good luck littleman your time has come! Montebello fans get ready to be disappointed again.

Will the real Sports Fan Original or sports fan original please stand up.

Do you know whittier football ?
I know only what Ive read or heard from others about whittier football.

Do you have anyone to fill that role ?
Thats why I was telling you to apply.

The freshman team won league with SF
I also belive the varsity would have been in the playoffs if they would have beaten LS. I picked them to be in third last year.

    I see a 2-8 season for Montebello

Man the SP fans are such haters. Its amazing to see and hear them so bitter, I’m just cracking up that someone wrote SP powerhouse next year. Are you serious? SP will be lucky to win 2 games next year. Schurr will be SP and then it will be a good year for all Montebello fans:)

its all petes fault st. paul is on a downward spiral. He will bring down the oilers just he same way.

Iam not the one asking for change.

  • MTB Football

What is wrong with you people?

We at MTB are very happy with what is going on these days. You haters from SP can’t get over the fact that your school is now the bottom of everyone’s list. You guys don’t call anyone to play anymore. They call you. How sad. As for Gonzalez, we know it will take time. We are not afraid to wait. We also know the truth. He was at every practice and every game. So go ahead and keep making those sill lies. We all know the truth. It’s about time you sorry SP people move on. As for the upcoming season, were not sure how it’s going to go. But as for SP, it will be another dismal year as it was last two. Good luck and grow up people. Because a small group of SP choose to hate him and spread all these slanderous lies, We choose not to hate him. We choose to wait and see what happens. Grow up Haters….

  • What!

    MTB Football,
I see your positive take, but tell me what is the truth? I know for a fact that Pete personal life is spiralling out of control and he is trying to make it seem to you all that things are fine. When this happens the kids are the ones who lose out. He has alienated coaches in the past, who have left rather than be unhappy and pissed off. He once had a good thing going, but his self-centered attitude is what drives people away. Pete knows alot of people and to his credit has the gift of gab. I believe this why he was able to get the Montebello job. So, if you are willing to have a wait and see attitude about it thats fine. Schurr and Bell Gardens in the mean time will continue to grow, remember these schools also get Montebello kids. I would like to see Montebello due some things, but I don`t think it`s going to happen with Pete as the headman. Lastly, I always felt that football was a way to teach youngmen about competition, hardwork, fundalmentals, goodsportsmanships, and family to which Pete has know understanding of. GOOD LUCK MONTEBELLO FOOTBALL 2010 FOR THE KIDS.

  • A Fan Said

Said well MTB Football. Haters have nothing better than to hate. Anonymous you are right its Pete’s fault for St.Pauls decline. lol. Lets see he took over a team that missed the playoffs? Took them to the Semi-Finals his first year only to win a Cif Championship his second year a feat which hadnt happen in over 25 years at St. Paul. Ya its Petes fault. Lets see he improved the weightroom and turned the fieldhouse to a nice team room with pride and recognition from previous players and teams at St. Paul. I think what really needs to happen here is not hate Pete but rather you grow some and confront him yourself. Everytime I tell him what people say on these blogs he always just laughs. He says he doesnt care and will take to heart what someone has to say to him when they tell him to his face.

    its all about hp

  • Parent of Varsity Player

Montebello football is haveing to work with the hand they have been delt! We really don’t have too many players with SIZE as compared to other schools. Now as long as our players play with their hearts and heads then we may have a shot this year. I know my view may be biased but so what, sounds like alot of others are too from what I have just read. Granted I dont know all about the Head Coaches past “issues” that were lightly mentioned on here. Instead of cutting his legs out from under him how about we actually see what he does with the team this year! Option #2 for all you haters out there how about you step up and see if you can do better!!!! It’s always easy play “If I WAS COACH I WOULD… WHEN YOUR SITTING UP IN THE STANDS !!!! To this years team …GOOD LUCK MONTEBELLO OILERS. I hope you shut all those haters up!!!!

  • Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
