Today’s Schedule (04/28/10)

We have a big day of games listed here. Hopefully, there will be some decent crowds.

Del Rio

La Serna (9-10-1, 5-4) at Pioneer (2-12, 0-9), 3:15 p.m.
Santa Fe (8-9, 5-4) at Whittier (8-8, 4-5), 3:15 p.m.
California (11-8, 7-2) at El Rancho (14-4, 6-3), 3:15 p.m.

La Habra (10-11, 5-4) at Troy (11-8, 4-5), 3:15 p.m.

Mayfair (16-3, 5-1) at La Mirada (14-8, 5-1), 3 p.m.

Mayfair (12-4, 6-0) at La Mirada (10-8, 6-0), 3 p.m.

Commentary: Sorry DRL fans, I think the Mayfair-La Mirada Suburban League baseball game is the biggest of the day. The showdown hasn’t lost any luster despite the recent ousting of Monsoons coach Mike McCurdy (Roger used to say he was a dead ringer for Sparky Anderson). However, I’m interested in Cal vs. El Rancho for numerous reasons (one that I will be posting in a while). Santa Fe and Whittier is also big because each is battling for a playoff spot. The same could be said in the Freeway League battle for third place between La Habra and Troy. As for softball, that game is also as huge as any baseball game as the Mats and Monsoons meet for the first time this year.

too bad big bad Amat isn’t in the area because the game vs. South Hills is bigger than any of these lil programs combined.

St Paul needs to get reed of all their baseball coaches, this way there will be no favorites on the team, or with any new coaches coming in. This way it will be fair to all players. Then maybe we will one the big games.

Poor St. Paul always taking the backseat to Amat. Oh well perhaps if your offense wasn’t as bad as La Salle and you had more than one pitcher, then you could probably keep up with Amat.
