It was at the midway point of the Freeway League season that La Habra, the defending league champ, seemed destined for third place.

Then the Highlanders made their move, winning five straight to force a three-way split between La Habra, Fullerton and Sunny Hills.

There may not have been a more exciting game than La Habra’s 12-11 win over Fullerton in nine innings last Thursday.

The Highlanders trailed by six runs at one point and by four runs entering the bottom of the seventh, only to tie on both occasions.

Fullerton then took a one-run lead into the bottom of the ninth when La Habra rallied for two runs.

The Highlanders are back in action in this week’s CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.

Before they get going, they deserve kudos on a job well done.
