Both teams eliminated by South Bay teams. I thought both teams had a great chance to go all the way. Great run by both teams. Thanks for the memories!

If you don’t win it all then the season was a waste. Poor outing kids. If you don’t finish first, then you are a loser

    Spoken like a true loser!!!

  • Cardinals

Whittier Boys Basketball went 4-0 this weekend at Azusa Pacific University Shootout. Game 1 on Saturday Whittier 61 Chatsworth 50. Game 2 Whittier 60 Temple City 37. On Sunday in game 3 a big upset Whittier 64 La Canada 34. And for game 4 Whittier 75 El Modena 52. Great job Cardinals keep it up.

  • what ever

then a guess bishop amat is apart of losing to the south bay teams as well. they lost to torrance. everyone knows that the bishop and st.paul games were an upset. those two teams weren’t supposed to lose until semi-finals or championship.no one expected la mirada to go anywhere. yeah they were good but they aren’t at that high level yet.

    who cares about basketball???

Let them report summer league score. In the winter you’ll forget them.

Losses by Amat and SP were defintely upsets. But, this is the time of year where if you make a mistake the other teams will take advantage of it and Amat and SP both made a lot of mistakes on Friday.

Was looking forward to a Lancer-Swordsmen final…oh well, not this year.

St. Paul will be back next year. The coach is overly sentimental about his departing seniors, but there are many talented boys left to take the field and the league next year. (well, we may have a problem finding two pitchers to take Willson/Encinas’ role). But have no worries, St. Paul will have a winning 2011 season as well.

are you kidding us? St.Paul winning season? You are losing the door mat in Cantwell and gaining a team on fire in Cathedral. You have to deal with a LaSalle team who has that kid Bubba and you will have to deal with the big dawg in the yard, Amat. Ha ha ha. you at best will finish ahead of Montgomery. LOL. As to replace Wilson? Please, find anyone on the JV squad and done. No wonder the coach was crying with all his departing seniors.

to HER AND HIM- st. Paul is not winning the league as long as Amat is in their league- they are not even close to the same level as AMAT- unless you do what your lousy football program did- call up AMAT and cancel the game cause you are not good enough to compete- pretty pathetic that SP would cancel a game against thier rivals cause they cant compete!- rememebr that SP fans next time you start bragging about your great program.

when are all area teams announced?

SP and Amat losses in the playoffs. Amat? You can call that an upset. SP? No upset! Division IV is better than Division V! Quarterfinals two years in a row is pretty darn good. But SP was doing better in Division V because it is weaker than Division IV.

Can you imagine if they were in Division III like Cal and the Del Rio? They probably would not make the quarters.

That prediction IS BASED UPON OBSERVATION OVER THE PAST 4 TO 5 YEARS!

Amat belongs in D1 baseball,so lets hope that Amat has petitioned to play in Division 1. This also applies to softball, you have great pitching there too.
Lastly, with all that gifted talent what happened this season, and why all this rage for St.Paul?

You obviously did not catch any St. Paul games this year. They were doing better in DV then DIV? And they can’t compete in DIII? Let me see….they were 13-3 against division opponents…2 losses to Amat (division quarterfinalist) and 1 to El Segundo (division semifinalist). Amat was 14-2 in the division including a loss to SP and Torrance, who SP also beat.

In DIII, they beat Mira Costa (division semifinalist) and La Mirada (division quarterfinalist) this year.

Lets now take a look at some of the division finalists….in DI, yep SP beat them. In DIV, Torrance, yep, SP beat them as well.

Personally, I consider El Segundo’s win an upset. But, unfortunately, SP didn’t win when they needed. Yeah, they should of won….but don’t say they didn’t or couldn’t compete. They were easily the best team in the area followed by La Mirada.

Anonymous: With all respect, I did not ever say they cannot compete in Division III. I observe that they went to the finals a couple of times in Division V in a 3 or 4 year span (I think), once under Fitzimmons and once under Morales. I could be a little off. Then the lose in the Quarters in Division IV.

OK…that is quite an accomplishment. No doubt…like I said: “pretty darn good”. But a step up in class, indeed has affected St. Paul in the playoffs. It is clear. They lost to El Segundo, who got beat by a Division IV power.

Similar action with LaQuinta of Westminster! I know, the coach left, but when LQ moved up in class from DIV to DIII they were not the power that they had been.

Very easy to recognize. I know St. Paul could probably beat anybody on a good day. I believe that! Really.

But it is very clear that the divisions of CIF get tougher as you move up divisions. How can you question that?

why wouldn’t they be 13-3 vs. division opponents. There was montgomery, lasalle, and cantwell. those are jv teams playing out of their league. Ha ha ha. they plain stink. simple as that. As for next year…sorry, try waiting a lot longer. Be like your football program and start calling high schools to change the schedule. LOL

They will be the first to turn thier backs on him while they chase the next “it” boy. Happens with all the child stars eventually. Then they have to deal with the ordinary world.
