For the second year in a row, the area’s lone championship representative is the Whittier Christian High School softball team.
The Heralds enter this weekend’s CIF-Southern Section Division 5 championship game with a full head of steam after bouncing visiting bitter Olympic League rival Village Christian, 8-0, in Tuesday’s divisional semifinal.
After posting three straight 1-0 playoff wins, the Heralds exploded with two three-run innings in dominating Tuesday’s game.
Whittier Christian athletic director Shawn Hunter noted he will petition the CIF-SS office for a Friday championship date since the school is holding graduation on Saturday.
Kudos and congratulations to Whittier Christian.
