Commentary: I usually don’t do commentary for all-area lists but this was a tremendously deep year for softball. There are quite a few solid players that didn’t make honorable mention, some good players that didn’t make second team and a couple of great players that didn’t make first team.

While I’m often asked what the area’s best sport is, the answer to 2009-10 may be softball. After all, this list includes girls heading to Arizona, Cal Baptist, UNLV, St. John’s, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UNC Charlotte. That’s not bad.
