Flores Heads East

Former Santa Fe and St. Paul High School and Cerritos College standout David Flores announced at Saturday’s 10th annual Santa Fe High School Tournament of Champions that he will be signing his collegiate letter of intent this weekend with Division II Midwestern State University of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Flores played middle linebacker with Cerritos the last two seasons and led the team to a 16-6 record with two postseason appearances.

Flores posted 168 tackles, 4 sacks and an interception over the last two seasons.

Flores was also a crucial member of the Swordsmen 2007 CIF-Southern Section Western Division championship and the Chiefs 2006 CIF-SS Southeastern Division championship game appearance.

    didn’t we go down this road a couple of years ago…paper ran his picture on front page…then he didn’t even even receive diploma(had to go to summer school) so over it… why not report about atheletes who excell on the field and off …all you ever write about are thes average kids(1.9 to maybe 2.5 gpa’s).

    Did you ever stop to think it wasn’t the ONE year he spent at St. Paul that he obtained a GPA that you’re spewing lies about (your words not mine) and not the THREE years he spent at Santa Fe? I bet you didn’t stop to think about that, did you?

    Why is everyone mad the even in there best day they could never be a top notch athlete like David. Its just pretty sad in my eyes. I wish him the best of luck!

    I love it! Haterz all the time when it comes to a kid from SP. But when you got 4 or 5 nobody’s from La Mirada who aren’t even in David’s level when he was in high school, everyone thinks we should kiss the ground they walk on or show a little graditude. Yeah right. They don’t got nothing yet until they lock the schalorship down, not some stupid verbal. Atleast David is going somewhere and it didn’t just end in JC like alot of kids do. Congrats to the Big Homie, i hope he keeps doing well.

    David has been an oustanding football player a gamer n he goes about his business at every game. he prepares n goes to the gym on a daily basis n I’m sure he will do fine in Texas , all these cheap talk is people that not even know David Don’t hate even with all this crap David is getting a Full ride for his higher education ….Well done David you really deserve it CONGRATS!!!

    When a kid call only read at 4th grade level and you still let him in to St Paul knowing he wont graduate because hes an better than ok player, not a divi 1 player. You see at SF at least he would be place where he could received help not just taken advantage of.

    ok. here we go. I did obtain a good GPA while I was attending St. Paul high school. Did you not read the article my freshmen year at Cerritos College. I said, “I always did enough just to get by in high school.” Yes, I did not a pass a class I needed to go to a University right after high school but that is because I chose not to pass the class. I spoke with my family and sources around the area and realized Minnesota was not for me. So I did make up the class in the summer but I knew what I was doing. I had 2 fellow teamates of mine from the 605 game go to Minnesota and bounce back right away during their first football season. So yea, I made the right decision. My Final GPA at Cerritos College BOZO was a 3.2 with an AA degree in 2 years. Like I said in my article freshmen year at Cerritos College, “I figured out it was easier to keep up than to catch up.” I learned from my mistakes and realized I have wasted great opputunities in life, and making mistakes and learning from them is the best teacher for ALL people.

    Now, I am sure all you people who do not know me may doubt me or do not like the way I present myself. I am a strong individual and I show it in the way I walk and talk. I do not do alot of talking to strangers and I never disrespect anyone. It is my swagger that does all the screaming for me and that is why I still have all you haters, but that is why I am the way I am. You people are my motivation, you guys give my a TINY boost in my mentality to prove all of you wrong. As for the people that know me, I am sure they already knew this of me and that is why they respect me as a individual and I show the same respect back to the people that respect, preach and believe in me. The drive is in me.

    I really do not need to prove anything to anyone. I need to prove things to myself. I will not get anywhere without the drive I have in my mentality. I have set goals in my life and have completed them, and I shall keep doing what I do. I want to live a comfortable life when I am older and I understand by receiving a BA in college I can achieve great things in my life.

    As for football, I am in great hands at Midwestern State University. A great university to attend, a diversity school and c’mon I am playing Texas football. The stands will be packed the I like it, the community loves the football team and the goal in our football program is nothing less than a NATIONAL TITLE BABY. I will not come back to CALI without being a better person in education and football. You have me word.

    Well, there you go HATERS and fans. There is my little story. I will still be strong and my swagger will still keep screaming, trust me. I am EL GALLO NEGRO, I walk around head up, chest out till the day I die.

    Big Ups to Campa. a great man and journalist. He believes in me and that is why he follows me in my success.

Please when I attended SP, you Gallo lol would have not been accepted at SP, the most disturbing aspect of it all is no matter what school you did attend you did not care about your education, hum. Thank God or hope to God, maybe you might go to College and learn what at least most kids are taught by parents, not depended on high school officials, teachers.

    You must be a parent that was upset that it a SF kid to make SP relevant again and win a title. SP has turned into one the weakest football programs in the area since David graduated. The kid is proud to be earning a free education. So he cares about earning and getting his education or else he wouldn’t be going, and he has his goals set on the nursing program. So take your hater words and eat them. And no one cares how hard it was for you to get into SP.

    I too am a Swordsman, am disgusted with whom ST Paul enrols, and gives no consideration on where they come from or live. The local youth teams have hurt us, their parents do not have good principles or maybe good morality with their kids? Mr. Gallo is a perfect example; I hope the best for him however, his parents are to blame not our school or sf.
