I’ve received some emails over the last couple of weeks as to why some Friday night game recaps weren’t in published in Saturday’s paper.

That simply means the stories weren’t written or edited on time for print publication. All I can do is apologize and tell you our staff is trying its best on a weekly basis to hit its deadlines. The problem is that most of our stories are handled by freelancers and our deadline is very tight – meaning that on occasion, we’ve had some stories not make Saturday’s print edition.

This weekend, that happened with the Cantwell Sacred Heart at Bell Gardens game story and the Downey at La Habra game story. Both stories were published late Friday night online and ran in Sunday’s paper.

In both instances, the games went pretty long and both stories just missed the cuts. So, if you don’t see your team’s game story in Saturday’s paper, please check for it on Sunday. The paper is committed to covering every football game and at least getting an online story up on Friday night.
