Video Takes: Whittier Christian at Cantwell Sacred Heart (Week 5)

It’s on to the second Week 5 video prediction/breakdown with SGVfootballer Aram Tolegian. Here we talk about the area small-school Super Bowl as Whittier Christian (5-0) invades Cantwell Sacred Heart (4-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. in a battle of the area’s last two unbeatens.

The Cardinals were a .500 team a year ago and already can match last season’s win total with a victory over Whittier Christian. Cantwell boasts a rushing attack that averages 317 yards per game and is led by running back Jonathan Mesa. The senior entered the season with only one previous start, but has rushed for 974 yards and 16 touchdowns in only four games. The Cardinals take their defensive cue from senior linebacker James Becerra, who averages nearly 13 tackles a game.

Whittier Christian’s offense has been potent in averaging 38 points per game, thanks in part to the passing of quarterback Stephen Anderson, who averages 266 yards and nearly three touchdowns per game. The 3-4 defense boasts a linebacking trio of three seniors.
