Cantwell Sacred Heart (9-1) is the area’s only entrant in the Division 10 playoffs and was given a solid No. 4 seed despite finishing runner-up in the Del Rey League. Here is the just released divisional bracket.
The Cardinals open at home with Tri-Valley League No. 3 Carpinteria (7-3) before a more-than-probable battle with Los Padres League champion Lompoc (7-3) in the second round.
My Analysis: The good news for the Cardinals is that they open at home. The bad news is that if they plan to advance deep into the postseason, they’re going to have to travel. And unlike the Mid-Valley Division, teams in the Northwest really travel. The Cardinals may be on the road at Lompoc (317-mile round trip) in the second round and at Nordoff (182-mile round trip) in the semifinals. Better bring your AAA card.
