Whittier Christian vs. Village Christian (First Half Updates)

Village Christian: The Crusaders took over at their 33 on the first drive of the game and drove 67 yards on 8 plays capped by a 5-yard touchdown run by Amjed Aboul-Hosn. Extra point is good. Village Christian 7-0 with 8:40 remaining in the first.

Whittier Christian: First drive at the 33 is a three and out. Heralds punted to Village Christian, which takes over at its 27 with 7:50 left in the first.

Village Christian: Marched 73 yards on 11 plays capped by a 13-yard touchdown by Aboul-Hosn, who rushed for the score from 13 yards out. PAT no good. Village Christian 13, Whittier Christian 0 with 2:31 in the first.

Whittier Christian: Heralds took over at the their 36 and drove 64 yards on 9 plays capped by a 6-yard touchdown pass from Stephen Anderson to Rudy Robles off a roll out. PAT good. 13-7 Village Christian with 11:50 in the second.

Village Christian: The Crusaders fumbled their kickoff which was recovered by Whittier Christian at the Crusaders’ 39 with 11:39 in the second quarter.

Whittier Christian: The Heralds take a 14-13 lead after scoring on 6-play, 60-yard drive (after penalties) that was highlighted by a great leaping catch on a jump ball by Cameron Stanley off a 27-yard touchdown lob by Anderson. PAT good. Whittier Christian 14, Village Christian 13 with 10:14 in second.

Village Christian: The Crusaders took over at their 37 and scored on yards on 10 plays and were aided by an unsportsmanlike conduct by the Heralds. Aboul-Hosn punched in a 2-yard touchdown and Josh Rolls scored a two-point conversion. Village Christian 21, Whittier Christian 14 with 7:15 left.

Whittier Christian:
Anderson was picked off on his 15 by Crusaders’ junior Tyler McGinnis, who jumped in front of a pass designated for Daniel Chacon. McGinnis returned the interception for a touchdown. PAT good. Village Christian 28, Whittier Christian 14 with 6:31 in the second.

Village Christian: Whittier Christian’s Jeff Worthy strips Aboul-Hosn and the Heralds recover at the Crusaders 32 with 4:44 left in the second.

Whittier Christian: Anderson hits Stanley for the duo’s third touchdown reception of the first half, this a 16-yard strike that Stanley danced into the end zone from 2. Village Christian:Heralds cornerback George Flynn bailed out his special teams when he leaped and intercepted a screen pass by quarterback Kyle Custer.
