It was confirmed on Monday afternoon that former El Rancho High School football player Jose Ramos was stabbed to death early Sunday morning at a party.

PICO RIVERA – Coroner’s officials on Monday released the name of the 18-year-old Pico Rivera man stabbed to death at a weekend party.
Detectives are still looking for who stabbed Jose Ramos.
Ramos was a guest at a backyard birthday party in the 8700 block of Bradhurst Street when 10 to 15 gang members tried to crash the gathering early Sunday, according to Sheriff’s Homicide Lt. Don Slawson.
He said a fight broke out when the suspects were denied entry. Ramos got caught in the melee and was stabbed.
Another suspect shot into the crowd but no one was hit.
Deputies responding to a call of a possible shooting or stabbing at the residence found Ramos, said Sheriff’s Sgt. John Adams. The victim was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he died.
Slawson estimated there were 50 to 60 people at the party. There were no suspect descriptions available.
Detectives are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
Ramos was a 2010 graduate and a starting tackle for the Dons’ 2009 playoff team.
El Rancho football coach Rick Zepeda stated Ramos “had absolutely no gang ties” and didn’t want the general public to think Ramos was “just another gangster.”
According to Zepeda, Ramos was protecting his girlfriend and her family when he stabbed by unidentified assailants.
As of Tuesday, Zepeda said the football team was planning on future fundraising events and putting a moratorium on the use of Ramos’ No. 79 for next season.
Zepeda said the team would wear No. 79 next year in honor of Ramos, although it’s not certain the number would appear on the helmet (sticker) or jersey (patch).
