La Mirada was the lone area team to advance to a CIF-Southern Section championship game last season, and the Matadores are starting to fnd their second win this season, winning 15 of their past 16. La Mirada has also shut out its past four opponents, so it’s no surprise to see the Mats atop the area Top Five. La Habra, which begins the day tied for first in the Freeway League, is a close second.
