Pioneer, Santa Fe to play home games at Pioneer as Titan Stadium redo put off until after the 2012 season

Titan Stadium at Pioneer High School, which has approval for major reconstruction, will be available to the Titans and Santa Fe after all.
Officals at Pioneer and Santa Fe have informed me that the reconstruction will not begin until after the football season, keeping the Titans and Chiefs at the corner of Pioneer and Slauson.

According to Titan Alumn, Pioneer will be so sensational this year that the games might have to be played elsewhere anyway, just to accomodate the overflow crowds. Perhaps Cerritos College could hold the sea of green-clad fans who come to cheer on Willig’s wonders. Santa Fe, as usual, will find the antiquated Pioneer facility far too big for its following.

  • Oh yes

Remember La Serna ran up the score on Pioneer 70 0, (2010) karma is a bitxh. La Serna never took their starters out until the final minutes of the game.. (LS vs. WC), If the officials wouldnt have called three TDs back against West Covina the score could have been 100, and maybe a 100 to nothing, with no LS 20 points. WC brought in their scrubs in early in that game.

I think the stars are aligned and with our Fine principal, the gods should be with us. Go Titans!

That’s the spirit, ‘Oh Yes’. Just because Oviedo hired a personal friend to coach football doesn’t mean it has to turn out badly, like it does 90% of the time. She’s got a doctorate in education, which obviously implies great sports prowess.

Just in case the Pioneer season turns out badly, Monica can use her brilliance to recall where she stashed the quarterfinal golf banner from 1960. Titan fans need something to remind them of the glory days.

  • BraveDad

The Bosco vs. Santa Fe game on Sept 7th will be played at Cerritos College, not Pioneer. Pioner does not have the space for our fan base.

Typical WUHSD- always behind schedule- another year playing in that crappy stadium- worst lighting and worst bleacher section in the area. I wouldnt be surprised if it doesnt get done at all- the longer it takes for that stadium to get done the longer it will take for them to do CALHI STADIUM

  • Sincerely

When considering the current Titan stadium, imagine the difference a new set of lights would make. Then think of how a simple paint job on the bleacher area would change the perception of this place. How much would these two things cost, compared to the cost of the proposed new stadium? It’s sad that the people running this joint are the ones we trust with educating our offspring.

  • Jefe

Hopefully this is the last time the Braves waste their time with Santa Fe.

  • BraveDad

    @ Jefe,

Come on brother. THe SF game is good because it gives our JV 2nd stringers a taste of Friday night football under the lights. Like a practice ni real time with refs and everything. Seriously though, I agree with you 100% and I do believe this will be the end to this short lived home and home. Kind of like the first Rocky movie when Apollo Creed says, “ain’t gonna be no rematch” and Rocky replies, “I don’t want one.” SF will not wnat anymore after Sept 7th. Are you tracknig me Alejandro?

  • Why?

The Santa Fe game does Bosco no good at all, and it only leaves Santa Fe stunned and humiliated. I can see how the Chiefs might want to brag about stepping up their schedule, but why did the Braves agree to this wasted game? Was it an act of charity, or did they want an extra bye week?

  • Jefe

Bosco needs to get something going with Amat in the near future.

Brave dad and jefe. What’s up with you guys? You seem to to have it in for Santa fe but your aren’t addressing the real reason for your problem. Your coach must have had input as to what games and teams he’s willing to play .you should be upset with him for not being able to man up and play teams that meet up to your standards. Then maybe your team won’t lay an egg when they play the big boys, example ,San Clemente and get blown out. I’m a Garfield bulldog guy myself and I actually commend Santa fe for challenging themselves .everybody loves an underdog so dont hate boys. So chelajate bosco boys and keep the hating to a minimum.

  • Reality

Let’s talk about how scheduling up helped Santa Fe. The three big-boy opponents on the Chiefs’ itenerary last season, Hamilton, SJB and Charter Oak, beat Santa Fe by a combined score of 152-0. How did this exposure to great teams help Santa Fe? They lost the very first playoff game to third-place Muir, 39-7.

I submit that in order for a team to benefit from playing a superior opponent, it must first be somewhere near that opponent’s level of play. The Chiefs reached way too far up the food chain to do them one ounce of good. All that happened is, they got pulverized and demoralized.

  • high school football fan

Reality- to prove your point even further Muir was actually a 5TH PLACE TEAM in the Pacific League.

  • Jefe

    Puro pedo:

I have NO problem with Santa Fe. I’m just hoping the Braves find a MUCH better team to play in that spot next season.

  • Jefe

    Puro pedo:

The Braves got shutout by San Clemente??

I wonder what game I was at then. I’m pretty sure they scored 24 and were in the game till late in the 3rd quarter against the eventual CIF runner-up.

  • Puro pedo

Jefe, get out the bifocals. I said you got blown out ,not shut out.what you need to do jefe is at your next booster meeting ,let coach del negro know that you are displeased with your schedule and drop some names like don bosco prep, euless trinity ,st Thomas aquinas ,concord de la salle or if you don’t want to travel too far, bishop Gorman.in fact ,didn’t you have a game scheduled to play bishop Gorman but you guys cancelled out and instead played mission hills ? Not a good sign of a team wanting to upgrade scheduling. So don’t bash Santa fe for upgrading their schedule .you got 2 teams up the street that are doing the same thing ,st Paul and la Serna and I don’t hear anyone on their behinds.

  • TITANic

I hope Pioneer officials will have the presence of mind to offer pieces of the old stadium for sale as souvenirs. I’d love to own a chunk of rotted wood from the bleachers, or perhaps a bit of spit-nourished sod from the sidelines. But the thing that everybody wants is a bulb from the light standards, autographed by Dr. Monica Oviedo. I hear they’re perfect for use in darkrooms.

  • BraveDad

    @ Pedo,

You seem to be very knowledgeable with regard to Bosco football. And perhaps you are right we should leave SF alone. Yes, we had Gorman but decided otherwise since we were dealing with a new staff and system. When you play a team like Gorman you cannot be in transition. This season we will go to Utah to play Jordan High, one of the top ranked teams in the State.

Oh yeah by the way, kudos to you for pointing out one of two games that we blew last season. One was the San Clemente game that we were in until the 3rd qtr until their OL worn down our DL. The other was the Loyola game where we simply did not show up. The other two losses we against Servite and SM by a combined total of 16 points; two Tds. Not bad right pedo?

  • Reality

Everyone reading this blog knows that Bosco is one of the elite teams in the southland. That means, simply, that Bosco is viewed as a club which has a realistic shot at winning the Pac 5 and then some. It’s not a coincidence that the Bosco basketball program is ascending at the same time; this is a school which is serious about surviving and thriving.

  • TITANic

Speaking of the venerable stadium at Pioneer and Slauson, I noticed yesterday that yellow police-type tape has been strung around the field. Is construction proceeding despite the announcement of a delay? Is the ancient field still safe, or have officials discovered hazardous materials? Hopefully, all is well so that the Titans and Chiefs can use the field for the great psychological advantage it brings.

  • John Startan

Every team has its ups and downs so really why does SJB think they are the SH*T? Do you really like bashing teams for challenging themselves? Do you get off on it? I mean you talked about how San Clemente beat you guys but according to one poster SBJ put up a fight. Excuse me but didnt SF beat San Clemente not that long ago? And what did SF’s schedule accomplish this past season? They were so demolished and humiliated from big bad SBJ and others that they once again ran the table in the DRL for yet another undefeated league title? Okay they got beat in the first round by Muir but then again what did La Serna accomplish by beating Muir? Should we bring up the debacle that was the final game against West Co? Funny but having heard it for years about SF and how teams would rather not even go to the playoffs than deal with the disappointment that SF has over the years I have to ask La Serna.how did it feel? Would you have rather not even gone had you known the outcome? I’m sure everyone up on the hill was proud of their boys regardless just as we at SF were of ours after each and every game. I for one was happy to see a DRL team in the finals no matter who it was or how it ended and as this new season approaches good luck to one and all. Strap up and bring it!!! But in the end I hope everyone comes out injury free and leaves it all on the field with integrity sportsmanship.

  • TITANic

Since Titan stadium is an exact duplicate of Cal High stadium, wouldn’t it be a thrill to have Santa Fe make the finals and play the championship game at the Pioneer & Slauson facility?

The crowd would be so large and boisterous that the commotion alone might bring the creaky old structure down, and that would save on demolition costs.

The good folks at La Serna showed that a stadium of this type is absolutely wonderful for a title game. The only reason its crowd failed to topple the stadium is that the game was over about one minute into the first quarter.
