Seven errors sealed the fate of La Serna’s baseball team Wednesday in an 8-0 loss to visiting Troy in the Newport Elks Tournament.

Three Lancer errors in the first inning led to three unearned runs, and La Serna committed two errors on the same play twice. All five runs allowed by Lancer starter Gavin Callender were unearned.

Offensively, La Serna (1-2-1) had just four hits, including two by John Mendoza.

The Lancers will visit West Covina on Friday in another tournament game.
