Santa Fe’s Reveles has a big day at the plate

Only her own hustle kept Santa Fe’s Lyzette Reveles from hitting for the cycle in Thursday’s 11-1 victory vs. Mayfair.

The junior first baseman singled in her first at-bat and tripled to right-center in the next. When Reveles came to the plate in the fourth with two outs and no one on, she found the same gap in right-center and legged out another triple. That eventually led to another run when Sabrina Flores reached on an infield error.

In her final at-bat, Reveles pounded Makenna Stram’s pitch to the left-center gap and split the outfielders for a grand slam. That increased the Chiefs’ lead to eight or more after five innings and brought about the mercy rule.

Reveles went 4 for 4 with six RBIs, three runs and 11 total bases.

“I felt really confident,” Reveles said.

Santa Fe snapped a two-game losing streak and evened its record at 3-3.
