Bishop Montgomery’s road to regional final just as tough as CSHM’s

The team Cantwell-Sacred Heart will meet in Saturday’s CIF SoCal Division 4 boys basketball final has played a schedule just as tough as the Cardinals’, and has beaten teams CSHM did not.
Bishop Montgomery is 26-6, and has posted victories over both Serra and Cathedral, teams that went 3-0 vs. Cantwell this season. The Knights have also beaten Long Beach Poly, St. John Bosco and Westchester, and – like the Cardinals – all of their losses have come against Open Division qualifiers. Bishop Montgomery has a 4-6 record against Open Division teams.
Cantwell-Sacred Heart is 3-8 against Open Division qualifiers, and has beaten Chino Hills and Sierra Canyon, which both topped the Knights. The Cardinals are 23-8.
“Both teams are battle-tested,” said Bishop Montgomery coach Doug Mitchell.
Saturday’s game tips off at 4 p.m. at Colony High in Ontario. The winner will advance to next week’s CIF State Division 4 final at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.
