Cal’s track team is off to Arizona

Cal’s track and field team will send over 50 athletes to this weekend’s Chandler Rotary Invitational in Arizona, the first time the team has left the state to compete.
A dozen Cal distance and field athletes will compete in Elite events, and 40 others will participate in seeded and open events. Over 100 schools are scheduled to attend.
Last week, distance runner Matlazomatli Rojas ran 9:15.58 to win the 3,200 in a meet at Redondo. Rojas broke the school record of 9:21.96 despite windy conditions.
