Meeting No. 3 between La Serna, St. Paul set for York Field

Thursday’s nonleague softball showdown between La Serna and St. Paul will be their third of the year, and could also be a playoff preview.
The Lancers are 10-1 and ranked No. 1 in the CIF-SS Division 3 poll as well as the Whittier Daily News Top 10. Their only loss came to St. Paul at the Brea Olinda Tournament. The Swordsmen are 12-4, third in Division 3 and No. 2 in the WDN poll. They were beaten 8-0 by La Serna the last time the teams played, in the Charter Oak Tournament final.
Game time is 3:15 p.m. at York Field. It was originally scheduled as a doubleheader but later changed to a single game.

Great game! Kudos to La Serna for getting the clutch hits and holding on. SP had many chances but couldn’t deliver. I have a feeling these 2 teams will meet again. SP has a very good defense and La Serna has a great pitcher and some super fast players. Best of luck getting through your leagues.
