Cal takes over sole possession of first place in convincing style

Cal created a little bit of separation in the Del Rio League baseball standings Wednesday with its 9-1 throttling of visiting Santa Fe.
The Condors pounded four Santa Fe pitchers for 13 hits, and broke the game open with a five-run second inning. They improved to 4-0 in the DRL and handed the Chiefs their first league loss of the season.
La Serna (3-1 DRL) moved into a second-place tie with Santa Fe with its 6-2 victory over Whittier on Wednesday, and the Lancers will visit Cal on Friday in another important league game.
In Wednesday’s third DRL game, El Rancho topped Pioneer 4-0 for its its first league victory, improving to 1-3.
