Del Rio League champion Santa Fe was the only area team to get out of the first round of the CIF-SS boys volleyball playoffs, and will make a long bus ride for Thursday’s second-round match.
The Chiefs defeated Rio Hondo Prep 3-2 at home Tuesday in the first round of the Division 4 playoffs. As a reward, they’ll visit Templeton for a second-round match Thursday. Templeton is near the northern boundary of the Southern Section, north of San Luis Obispo. The trip should take between 4-5 hours.
Del Rio runner-up El Rancho lost its first-round Division 4 match to Chadwick 3-2 on Tuesday, and La Serna fell to Damien 3-0. The Lancers advanced to the first-round with a wild-card victory over John Glenn.
In Division 3, Olympic League runner-up Whittier Christian was topped by Westminster 3-2 in the first round.
