The boys tennis team from La Serna was knocked out of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs Monday with a 13-5 quarterfinal loss to Jurupa Valley.
The Lancers, undefeated champions of the Del Rio League, finished the season with an impressive 17-2 record. They won a pair of playoff matches, 17-1 over Ganesha in the first round and 13-5 vs. Chino in the second. La Serna was the last Whittier-area team alive in the postseason.
Jurupa Valley will meet Rim of the World in the semifinals Wednesday. Rim of the World knocked off No. 1 seed Rosemead on Monday 9-9 (82-74).
