Tuesday Recap: Hannah Gabriel was the winning pitcher and went 2 for 3 to lead Whittier Christian softball to victory

Whittier Christian 3, California 2 — Hannah Gabriel was the winning pitcher and went 2 for 3 to lead the Heralds (6-6) to the nonleague win. Erica Romo and Morgan Ryan each had a hit for Whittier Christian.
Baseball
Alhambra 9, Bell Gardens 3 — James Giambalvo was the winning pitcher, striking out four and Nick Giambalvo went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and a double to lead the Moors to the Almont League win. For Alhambra, Julian Zermeno went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
La Mirada 6, Cerritos 2 — Preston Brown pitched three scoreless innings, Omar Myzel had a two run double, Ethan Lopez went 2 for 3 and Anthony Quezada had two hits and an RBI to lead the Matadores (5-9, 2-1) to the Suburban League win.
Santa Fe 7, El Rancho 1 — Elias Ledesma pitched a complete game, striking out eight and Eddie Fournier had three RBIs to lead the Chiefs (5-8-1, 2-0) to the Del Rio League victory.
Boys volleyball
Whittier Christian 3, Village Christian 0 — Branden Osborn had 10 kills, eight digs, four blocks and an assist and Josh Sorely had six kills, eight blocks and a dig to lead the Heralds (10-10, 1-1) in a 28-26, 25-21, 25-23 Olympic League win. Whittier Christian’s Seth Shumate had two kills, 18 assists and two blocks and Spencer Swift had 14 digs and two aces.
Boys golf
Flintridge Prep 218, Cathedral 243 — Jonah Sacks shot a 5-over 36 to lead the Rebels (7-2) to the nonleague win at AltaDena Golf Course. William Pai and Justin Yu each shot a 45 for Flintridge Prep.
Maranatha 196, Whittier Christian 207 — Nick Chavez shot 1-over 35 to earn medalist honors, leading the Minutemen (3-0) to the Olympic League victory. Whittier Christian’s Matt Rafter and Karsten Briley and Maranatha’s Zach Wilkins each shot a 37.
