Area trio takes to the field one last time in 605 All-Star Football Classic

El Rancho High School’s Andrew Perea, La Serna’s Enrique Pacheco and La Mirada’s Christian Lara were three of the top four quarterbacks in the area last fall, and the trio will get one last chance to showcase their talents when they compete in the 48th annual 605 All-Star Football Classic on Friday.
The game, which pits the top players from West and East of the 605 Freeway, will be at 7:30 p.m. at Cerritos College.
Perea, who leads the West squad, was Whittier Daily News Player of the Year after helping El Rancho to the Del Rio League title. He accounted for more than 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns.
The West will also feature Perea’s teammate, receiver Richard Cuellar, who had 71 receptions for 660 yards. All-area players on the team include Montebello kicker Enrique Lozano and lineman Matthew Perez, of Schurr, and Mark Millan, of El Rancho.
Lara and Pacheco lead the East squad.
Lara helped La Mirada to the Suburban League title, throwing for nearly 2,200 yards and 28 touchdowns. Pacheco helped La Serna reach the Southeast Division semifinals for the fourth consecutive season. He threw for more than 2,500 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Also on the East squad are La Habra defensive end/fullback Trevor Casados, and La Serna running back Kevin Ramos.
Downey coach Jack Williams will coach the West squad, with Buena Park’s Anthony White leading the East.

The senior game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the University of La Verne. There will also be a underclassmen game at 3 p.m.
Area seniors also selected are La Serna’s Taylor Becerra and Tori Ayala, La Serna; St. Paul’s Niko Walker and Myranda Bueno; La Habra’s Racquel Manzo; Pioneer’s Amanda Fitzgerald; La Mirada’s Monica Navarrette; Whittier Christian’s Hannah Gabriel; Santa Fe’s Lyzette Reveles; California’s Lorren Sharp and Schurr’s Lexi Madrid.
Area players for the underclassmen game are Cal’s Jaclyn Macias and Justice Sharp; La Mirada’s Rain Vega; La Serna’s Dominique Mejia and Jelli Lopez, La Serna; St. Paul’s Sydney Kriemann; La Habra’s Nikki Butler and Janelle Rodriguez; Santa Fe’s Kristie Carbajal; Whittier Christian’s Morgan Ryan and Schurr’s Andrea Gonzalez and Karen Roman.
