Marijon Ancich is considered one of the top football coaches in the history of the CIF-Southern Section. He will be honored for that accolade.
Ancich will be inducted into the CIF Hall of Fame in a ceremony at The Grand in Long Beach on Oct. 14.
Ancich ranks No. 2 in wins among California coaches with a record of 360-134-4. He also won three section titles, last with St. Paul in 1981. He retired in 2012.
St. Paul principal Kate Aceves: “St. Paul High School is proud and fortunate to have had ‘Coach A’ be a part of the St. Paul family for the 35 years he has been here. Coach ‘A’ has led an amazing coaching career but more importantly has greatly impacted the lives of so many people with his hard work ethic, poise, loyalty, courage and ethical beliefs. He is an icon, not only for the St. Paul community but for all of high school football.”
