Welcome to Week 1 (Week 2 for the rest of us) of the high school football season.
All eyes in the Whittier area will be on Pioneer High School as Whittier hosts Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary. The host Cardinals won in a rout last season. Both opened with wins. Whittier shutout Sonora, 16-0. CSHM beat Glendale, 21-13.
This is a barometer test for both.. CSHM is supposed to be improved, but considering Whittier handled the short-handed Cardinal so easy last season, I’ll go with the hosts.

GAME PREVIEWBoth teams looked strong last week, starting the season with wins. This matchup quite simply looks like Whittier’s defense, which had a shutout last week, against CSHM’s offense.CSHM has seriously upgraded its skill-position talent and some of that may be on display in this game. Whatever the situation is, the Cardinal had better be way better because the Cardinals won, 61-0, last season.
