The La Mirada High School softball team’s bid for a second CIF-Southern Section Championship was ended at the hands of No. 3-seeded Camarillo, which defeated La Mirada 5-1 in Saturday’s Division 2 championship game.

While the area was reduced to one final postseason team, that squad did not disappoint. The La Mirada High School softball team scored two runs in the first inning of its CIF-Southern Section Division 2 semifinal game at Oxnard and never looked back in winning 3-1.
La Mirada (21-11) is advancing to this weekend’s CIF-SS Division 2 championship game at Irvine’s Deanna Manning Stadium. The game will be played either Friday or Saturday (depending on what the CIF-SS office selects). The Matadores will face Pacific View League champion Adolfo Camarillo (23-7), the divisional No. 3 seed.
Congratulation to La Mirada, which is advancing to the program’s fifth title game appearance.
