YUCAIPA - City of Yucaipa Public Works Department Construction Update

Chicken Springs Wash Storm Drain and Street Improvements/Yucaipa Boulevard Storm Drain
These projects include the construction of curb and gutter, sidewalk, asphalt concrete pavement, storm drain improvements, earth channel grading, placement of grouted rip rap, concrete structures and catch basins, removal of existing storm drain culverts, construction of concrete flood walls/retaining walls, and reconstruction of existing surfaces between Adams Street and 3rd Street along Yucaipa Boulevard and at the 3rd and 4th Street culvert crossings. The project is underway and is scheduled to be completed by March 2009.

7th Street Park Rehabilitation - Phase II
The project consists of retrofitting a partially finished concrete pad as three covered basketball courts with lighting. In addition, the project will include a modular skate park and retrofitting several gazebos with additional landscaping around the "formal" main gazebo to enhance its use for special events. This project is underway and is now scheduled to be completed by January 2009.

Oak Glen Creek (Wilson II) Basins Project
This is a joint project among San Bernardino County Flood Control District, Yucaipa Valley Water District, and Inland Empire Resource Conservation District with the design and construction being administered by the City of Yucaipa. This project includes flood control/groundwater recharge basins, passive recreational trails, rest areas, landscaping and irrigation, habitat set-a-side areas, limited parking and an educational signage program when completed this project will reduce flooding downstream through the community particularly in the Dunlap area. This project is 80% complete and scheduled to be completed by February 2009.

Live Oak/Oak Glen Interchange
This is a joint project between the City and SANBAG with the construction being administered by SANBAG. This project consists of widening all on and off ramps to the I-10 Freeway, reconstructing the bridge over the Freeway (5 lanes) and installing interconnected traffic signals at all ramps. The project is underway and scheduled to be completed by Summer of 2009.

City Wide Street Patching Program (Pavement Repair)
This project consists of removal and replacement and/or patching of failed pavement at a number of locations throughout the community. This project has been completed except for any call-out work that may be required on an as needed basis.

City Wide Slurry Seal Program
This project consists of applying a single or double slurry seal application with restriping at a number of locations throughout the community. This project has been completed.

Citywide Concrete Replacement Program
This project consists of repairing damaged or deteriorated sidewalk, curb and gutter, wheelchair ramps at a number of locations throughout the community. This project has been completed.

Citywide Micro-Surfacing Program
This project consists of applying a single application of a slurry seal aggregate mixture. This process is applied in the same manner as a slurry seal except it has a larger aggregate and is approximately twice as thick as a slurry seal. This project has been completed.

2008-2009 Street Rehabilitation Program
This project consists of street rehabilitation throughout the City. Several processes will be used to accomplish the program. One process includes pulverizing the existing pavements with regrading and compaction and asphalt overlay. A second process is edge milling (grinding) of the asphalt pavement with overlay. Both processes will also require the restriping of the streets. This project has begun and is scheduled to be completed in January 2009.

13th Street Sports Complex-Phase I
Phase I consists of site preparation, soil import, compaction and rough grading. Future phases will include finish grading, construction of three little league sized baseball fields, a restroom, parking lot improvements and a play area adjacent to the existing skate park. Phase I is underway and is scheduled to be completed by the Summer of 2009.

7th Street Park Ball Field Lighting
This project consists of the removal of the existing wood poles and lightings and installing new steel poles and lighting. This project is scheduled to start construction January 2009 and to be completed by March 2009.

7th Street Park Ball Field Irrigation
This project consists of reconstructing the ballfield irrigation and ballfield fencing. This project is scheduled to start construction in January 2009 and to be completed by March 2009.

Avenue I Park - Gazebos
This project consists of replacing 2 existing gazebos and re-installing 2 gazebos that were removed due to their structural liabilities. This project is scheduled to start January 2009 and to be completed by February 2009.

Tennis Basketball Court Re-Surfacing
This project consists of the repair and resurfacing of 2 tennis courts and 2 basketball courts at Community Park, 2 tennis courts and 1 basketball court at Avenue "I" Park and 3 new basketball courts at 7th Street Park. This project is scheduled to start this month and to be completed by March 2009.

Drainage Improvements -Butterfly Drive
This project consists of installing new concrete curb and gutter, concrete cross-gutter, catch basin and drainage pipes. This project is scheduled to start December 2008 and to be completed by February 2009.

Traffic Signal Installation at Sand Canyon Road and Campus Drive West (North) & Sand Canyon Road and Campus Drive East (South)
The installation of traffic signals, pedestrian crossings and ADA access ramps to accommodate future sidewalks and multi-purpose trails at both intersections serving as the main entrances to Crafton Hills College will be completed under one construction contract. The installation of the signals at both intersections is scheduled to begin this month and will be completed by February 2009.

Avenue H / 5th Place Drainage/Street Improvements
This project consists of installing a new street drainage system including catch basins, piping along with new curb and gutter, sidewalks and street paving. This project is under construction and scheduled to be completed in January 2009.
