Banning, CA - The Banning Redevelopment Agency will begin accepting applications
from interested property owners for the Downtown Façade Improvement Program on
March 11, 2009.
The Downtown Façade Improvement Program was substantially
revised and was approved by the Community Redevelopment Agency in December of
2008.
The program provides for financial assistance in the form of loans and grants to
downtown property owners to rehabilitate and remodel the exterior of their buildings.
Grant and loan amounts range from less than $25,000 to over $100,000 depending on the scope of the proposed repairs and improvements.
Eligible work includes: architectural modifications, exterior refinishing, signage, lighting, doors windows and awnings, and other rehabilitation and restoration work.
Over the past several years, over 20 buildings have been renovated and
rehabilitated through this unique partnership between the Redevelopment Agency and
private property owners in Banning.
The new program area is focused on Banning's downtown commercial core to
further the revitalization progress made over the last five years. The program boundaries include: Livingston Street to the south, Alessandro Road to the east, Williams Street to the north, and Fourth Street to the west.
Currently, the Agency has received over ten inquires from interested property
owners since the new program was approved in December. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the Agency expecting to approve approximately six projects before the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2009.
Additional applications and projects may be considered as funding and staffing capacity allows.
For more information or to obtain an application package, please contact the
Redevelopment Agency at 951-922-3171.
