YUCAIPA - Casey becomes the 44th person who has commented on the blog I posted on July 21, 2008 entitled, "Almost Mauled By A Pit Bull," and Casey also sent along this link to a Sports Illustrated article about Michael Vick's (former NFL quarterback) fighting ring that featured pit bulls. Thanks for sharing Casey.
A quote from the story: What happened to Michael Vick's dogs ...
"In truth these dogs are among the most people-friendly on the planet. It has to be. In an organized dogfight three or four people are in the ring, and the dogs are often pulled apart to rest before resuming combat. (The fight usually ends when one of the dogs refuses to reengage.) When separating two angry, adrenaline-filled animals, the handlers have to be sure the dogs won't turn on them, so over the years dogfighters have either killed or not bred dogs that showed signs of aggression toward humans. 'Of all dogs,' says Dr. Frank McMillan, the director of well-being studies at Best Friends Animal Society, a 33,000-acre sanctuary in southern Utah, 'pit bulls possess the single greatest ability to bond with people.'"

please take that picture down your just poisoning more of americas idiots, what you posted is true, human aggressin was NEVER bred into pits on account of fear of them turning on their handlers. They are very people friendly dogs ... they dont even make good gaurd dogs regardless of what you've or anyone else for that matter has heard ... they are very loyal and loving dogs, next time choose a better picture!
I'm no longer with the SUN, so I have no administrative rights to change anything on the blog. The picture was taken after this dog charged me while I was on a reporting assignment. And that encounter with the dog inspired my first pit bull post.
i think pit bulls should still live there life only the once who let others im shor there is a bit bull that would never dare of herting eney thing and i thing if it is like that they should live but the way they are they should be killes .
Ashleigh,
You are the idiot. I have a pit bull with 2 children and 2 cats she's wonderful with the children and totally ignores the cats. he dogs are what you make them, though some traits are handed down by breeding, it's the training, mental and physical stimulation, and benevolent leadership, or lack of any of those three, that determines the aggressiveness of the dog.
Breed wise, they were bred to be aggressive to other dogs, not humans, no trainer in their right mind wants a dog that turn on them when they separate it from another dog. lso, England, not America, is the country with the "Dangerous Dogs Act 1991" that basically hopes to stamp out the breed by restricting breeding among other things. So, your "americas idiots" was not only a hurtful comment, but also an ignorant one. I hope you are not representative of the majority population in your country, that would be sad indeed.
