Elizabeth Olvera of the Cal Poly Pomona has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
Olvera, a native of Long Beach, led the Broncos to their sixth-place finish in the 17-team Pomona-Pitzer Invite, on Saturday.
In the 6,000-meter race, Olvera posted a 23:13.1 mark, which led the Broncos. Her time helped CPP defeat the host school, as Pomona-Pitzer was five points behind the Broncos in the end result.
Her time also helped CPP top Cal State Bakersfield, a Division I program. Bakersfield came in 12th.
The Broncos will return to the course on Thursday as they race in the UCLA/USC Meet at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena.
