He worked as his own marketing agent, sending out video to Division 1 and 1-AA schools. Delaware State was one of the first to respond.

Going in as a junior he thinks he’ll be in the mix for a starting spot right away. Four-year schools typically don’t recruit a community college player unless they think he’ll contribute immediately.

“It’s tough for a quarterback because schools only recruit one,” he said. “Every other position on the field he recruit more than that. I am thankful for the opportunity.”

The school is located in the state capital of Dover. Epperson plans to major in political science with plans of going to law school afterward.

“It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was really beautiful out there,” he said. “It’s a historical city so it’s old buildings with colonial architecture. It was a nice change of pace and it’s place I can see myself for the next couple of years.’
