More postgame quotes/notes

Here’s the complete quotes and notes from this afternoon’s game:

KINGS HEAD COACH MARC CRAWFORD:

(Re: game recap): “What happened more than anything is our team hit a wall today. You’re playing against a team that is desperate and really found themselves and that is what happens when those paths cross. We squeezed a lost out of our team playing three games in three-and-a-half days…. There’s no excuse, you never want to play like that in front of your fans but we ran out of gas today.”

KINGS GOALTENDER ERIK ERSBERG:

(Re: game recap): “It was a tough game. They’re a good team and when they get the chances on the power play they’re going to score sometimes. I didn’t have my best day which happens sometimes… That’s how it goes when you fall asleep a little bit against a team like Dallas. They’re going to punish you.”

KINGS GOALTENDER DANIEL TAYLOR:

(Re: first NHL goal against): “I kind of wanted a nice, easy one right to the belly to start off with and then see the breakaways. It was a tough one but you just take it in stride and hopefully we’ll rebound from this.”

STARS HEAD COACH DAVE TIPPETT:

(Re: game recap) “We did some good things, but we recognize that we still have to continue to improve. Today was another step in that process. We’ve been finding ways to shoot ourselves in the foot, but today we were a very determined team. When we were on the power play, we got our chances. If we didn’t get a goal, we were generating momentum. We started the game well and carried it through. It was a strong effort and we’ll need to do it again tomorrow.”

STARS GOALTENDER MARTY TURCO:

(Re: Kings lack of shots on goal): “That’s the idea of our game plan is to shutdown anybody on the other team who’s talented. When there’s that much to play for you have to be super cautious. We have a game plan that we’d like to execute all the time, but when guys are playing that hard, that intense and that focused, it’s pretty hard to generate much. Today is a great example of what we need to do, and something we’re going to need every shift from now on.”

STARS FORWARD LOUI ERIKSSON:

(Re: game recap): “It’s important for us to win now, and we have to build every time we play now. It’s a huge win for us today and we have to do it against Anaheim tomorrow and play hard again.”

KINGS NOTES:

Kevin Dallman has four points (2-2=4) in the last five games…

Daniel Taylor made his NHL debut today. He is the seventh goalie to see action for the Kings this season, tying an NHL record. The 1989-90 Quebec Nordiques and 2002-03 St. Louis Blues also used seven goalies in one season…

Michael Cammalleri scored his 19th goal of the season. If he gets one more the Kings will have five 20-goal scorers (joining Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, Alexander Frolov and Patrick O’Sullivan). The Kings haven’t had five 20-goal scorers since 1993-94…

Cammalleri is now only seven goals away from 100 as a King and in the NHL…

The Kings finished 4-4-0 against Dallas this season…

The Kings need only two more points for 3,000 all-time
