This video, courtesy of Canadian broadcaster CTV via YouTube, pretty much speaks for itself. For many, it will be the first look Kings fans have gotten at Drew Doughty since last season’s playoffs:
While Doughty stays home without a contract, the Kings announced a significantly less anticipated signing Monday. Enforcer Kevin Westgarth agreed to a two-year contract extension reported to be worth $700,000 in 2012-13 and $750,000 in 2013-14.
Westgarth appeared in 56 games in 2010-11, his first full NHL season, collecting 105 penalty minutes, no goals and three assists. He also appeared in all six playoff games against the Sharks, posting two assists and 14 penalty minutes.
His 15 fighting majors last season were second on the Kings to fellow rookie Kyle Clifford. You can see them all on HockeyFights.com, where voters scored Westgarth 6-6-3.
Westgarth wrote on his Twitter account: “So pumped to be with the Kings for a few more years. An incredible group about to do some incredible things. Thanks for the congrats!”
