Kings defenseman Drew Doughty talks about playing hockey at Dodger Stadium

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty spoke Thursday about the allure of playing the first outdoor hockey game in Southern California, on Jan. 25 against the Ducks at Dodger Stadium. Doughty is a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, but that doesn’t make the upcoming game at Dodger Stadium any less exciting. He admitted he might feel nervous about playing in front of 55,000 people, far more fans that have ever watched him play before.

Said Doughty of the appeal of the game: “The weather, the climate here being able to put a rink out on this field … I heard they’re putting out a beach and some palm trees and stuff like that around the rink. That will be the biggest thing. … I know a little bit about the Dodgers. I’ve come to one game here, but I know a lot more about the Jays. I think it’s going to be a great event. It’s going to be a lot of fun. The guys are going to be ready to go. I’m going to be so excited, maybe over-pumped to have that atmosphere, kind of like a playoff game. It’s going to be a little nerve-wracking, I’m sure.”
