Former defenseman Sean O’Donnell rejoins the Kings in a new role

Sean O’Donnell, who spent eight of his 17 seasons in the NHL with the Kings, returned the club in a new role Wednesday. He was named the Kings’ manager of fan development and alumni relations. O’Donnell, 41, made his NHL debut in 1994-95 with the Kings. He also played with Anaheim, Minnesota, New Jersey, Boston, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Chicago before he retired after the 2011-12 season. He appeared in 1,224 regular-season games and was a member of the Ducks’ 2007 Stanley Cup championship team and also played in the 2001 Final with the Devils. He is a long-time South Bay resident.
