Chino Hills volleyball coach Dana Buzzerio steps down

Chino Hills volleyball coach Dana Buzzerio has resigned after spending eight years in the program.

She had been the coach last year as well as from 2008 to 2011 with the three years in between those stints spent as an assistant to then coach Kass McInteer.

Family was the reason she thought it was best to give up that position.

“We’re going in a lot of different directions right now,” she said. “With kids in different sports and my husband’s job it was making it hard to devote the time necessary when you’re a head coach.”

Daughter Courtney just finished up her sophomore season and was the starting setter for the Huskies.

Another daughter Meghan, a the Daily Bulletins Player of the Year in 2014, is a freshman at the University of Arizona and red-shirted for the Wildcats this season. Giving up the head job will enable the family to travel to go see her play next year.

There is also another player coming up the volleyball pipeline in 11-year-old Paige.

The Huskies are coming off a 16-15 season that included a berth in the second round of the CIF Division 1-A playoffs. Chino Hills played a competitive non-league schedule and ended up second in the Baseline behind Rancho Cucamonga.
