ALEMANY 52, LA CANADA 35 — Senior Kristina Kurdoghlian and sophomore Brooke Yasuda each scored seven points for the Spartans (0-1) in a Palasades Tournament first-round loss.
Kurdoghlian also had five rebounds and two assists.
La Canada will return to tournament play at 1 p.m. today vs. Agoura.

Girls water polo
Arcadia 15, La Salle 1 — Lauren Sargent scored five goals, Colleen Cook scored four goals and goalie Loreny Valdez had seven saves for the visiting Apaches (1-0) in a nonleague win. Sharon Lin scored twice for Arcadia. Tess Godtha scored a goal for La Salle.
