Nogales tournament: Aaron De Anda scored 28 points and Randal Guillory had 23 as Nogales defeated Damien, 75-68 to finish third in their own tournament on Tuesday. Nogales improved to 12-4 while Damien, who got a team-high 16 points from Chris Adams, dropped to 10-4.
Covina tournament: Zach Brungard drained a 3-point shot at the buzzer to lift Bonita to a 43-40 victory over Bishop Amat in the third-place game of the Covina tournament. “That was my first game-winner at the buzzer,” Brungard said. “I just saw James (Northrup) driving to the hole and I spotted up. I shot it just ike normal and it went in.” Tim Fassas led the Bearcats (14-1) with 15 points and Nolan Abernathy chipped in with 10. Bishop Amat (11-3) was paced by Dion Hudson’s game-high 18 points.
